| Biography |
Deanna Hatfield was born in New York City, but
she became a Southerner when her family moved to
Georgia the next year. She received a Bachelor of
Fine Arts from the University of Georgia in 1994
(Go Dawgs!) and also studied at the Lyme Academy
of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Artists she
has studied with include Deane Keller, Jerry Weiss,
Ginzie Chancey, Kevin Macpherson, and John
Asaro. Her mother, a gifted artist, is also one of her
primary influences.

Artist's Statement
My art expresses the passion that I feel for painting. I think it is important to
paint with strength, intensity, and energy. I enjoy painting from life, as it
promotes these qualities in one's work. When I look at a painting that I've
created, the memory of that day is brought back to me. Although it's challenging
(that's what keeps it interesting), it is wonderful to be an artist and to get to be
creative in one's work.

Hatfield has been a professional artist since 1995 and resides in Georgia. She is
an accomplished plein air painter and portrait artist. She travels frequently to the
coast to find inspiration. The interesting people and lush landscapes of the
Southeast are the subjects for many of her paintings.
